Marinas

posted 2006 June 11

Max got me thinking about where exactly I would keep the boat. I was thinking I would just trailer it, but it would be so much nicer to have it on a dock and just drop it in when I wanted to go sailing (I've learnt this from sailing the J-24s... it's sure nice to arrive and be underway in 10 minutes.)

So I researched where all the local marinas are in this area. It would be best to have something on the east side, but Leschi seems to be the only marina with dry storage listed on their site... and their dry docks are falling apart. (Sigh.)

[Update 2006 Aug 27: There's also Sand Point marina, where a friend of mine from the J-24s houses his small boats for his kids. This might work out well - it's quite accessible, and it would be possible to put another boat there that Tristan could sail.]

Relaxing

posted 2006 June 04

Took June off. Thought big thoughts. Sailed J-24s Tuesday nights. Pondered methacrylate adhesives and Catalina 34s. Watched House.

[Update 2006 Jul 17: I came across an article on sealants. Discusses the differences between silicones, polysulfides and polyurethanes, in case you're curious.]
